Story of the Linden Ghetto
The 1400 Playboys are an alliance of several cliques across the Linden area. The alliance was formed under bad conditions, as most of the cliques were once in other larger groups. The one first major gangs to set up shop in Linden were the99 Demons. The 99 Demons was a multi racial group, which included all races. However the 99 Demons eventually left the area and moved to the Broadway district. The group which descended from this would be the 9SR. 9 side Runners was a very disorganized and weak group, which eventually fell to infighting. Former 9SR member Rojelio Cruz would become one of the first to create an exclusively Mexican gang in the area, Linden Clan Lokos. Most non-Latinos left the area after the group gained more power. Once the founder Rojelio Cruz, died, a massive power struggle in the group took hold. The gang eventually fell after other groups fought for power. When most of these groups disbanded, one remained firm, the Playbois. The Playbois were put together by Rico Garcia and his three right hand men, Eric Rodriguez, Geo Lopez and Fabian Chavez. These three would define what would become the Playbois at an early stage. They were first affiliated with the 9 Side runners, before separating in several cliques throughout LCL. Once that fell, Rico came together with his three old friends from 9 side.
Rico was never an organizer, butEric was focused on profits and organization. With Rico's blessing, Eric went on to organize the gang into a system in which members would be fronted drugs, and they'd have to pay back a certain amount. Those who wouldn't pay back would be dealt with harshly. Their group thrived for several years, making Eric, Rico, Geo, and Fabian the richest people in the ghetto of Linden. However, this came with backlash. A rival clique including 14 year old Jose Rodriguez, and seventeen year old Lenny Ortiz from within the gang didn't want to pay tribute to the higher homies anymore, so they decided to kill them. When the four were in a car together, Jose Rodriguez, Lenny Ortiz, and Jovier Chavez, cousin of Fabian, rolled up on them. Several guns were fired at the parked car, which left most of the group shot. Eric Rodriguez was killed in the incident, Fabian and Rico were shot several times. Geo Lopez was shot once through his cheek. Once the three were out of the hospital, they began a plot to get back on their former friends. While they were in the hospital, their former friends had taken control of Linden, and had already been collecting tribute from the local cliques. Jose and his friends were holding a party in the abandoned Linden home which was formerly controlled by the original leaders. The three entered the house, and went upstairs where Jose Rodriguez and Lenny Ortiz were smoking blowers and drinking cherry talented mane. The three entered, and shot them both dead, along with Jose's girlfriend Lori Estrada. The EBPD arrived immediately, but only caught Geo. Geo was in prison for two years before his trial was thrown out.
Reconsolidating to the Present
For the two years that Geo was in prison, Rico and Fabian tried to regain the power in Linden. The Playbois were now challenged by the numerous cliques around the area, who began tagging their own sets on Linden grounds. The Playbois fought against these cliques, but shrunk in numbers after a war ensued. This war was set against those loyal to the Playbois and those who wanted to form their own groups. The most powerful of these groups were the "J Boys" led by Jose Rodriguez's older cousin, Lenin Rodriguez. Lenin and his boys engaged the Playbois numerous times, which would ultimately lead to his downfall. His first attack was in the fast food store of Fuegoz. While Rico and Fabian were eating at one of the tables, several masked men with Block 17s shot at them through the windows, leaving Rico shot and hospitalized. He then attacked the Playbois at their setup in the abandoned house, the same house where his cousin was murdered. Along with some of his friends, this left Fabian's girlfriend killed, along with his younger brother, who was only eleven years old. That very night, Fabian's house where he was sleeping was shot up as well, leaving his mother shot in the shoulder. Fabian asked Rico to bring together as many people as possible to get back at Lenin, and he agreed.
On Halloween night, just four days after the shooting, Fabian along with four other people performed a home invasion.Lenin was in this Linden home, and he was not just shot. When the police came, just minutes later, they found Lenin hanging by the ceiling fan in the living room. They also found cracks in his skull, and several broken limbs. The J Boys would last a few weeks after, before "The Linden Trials" occurred. Most gang members of Linden were arrested, and all put together in the jail. This caused a massive riot, which led to the death of four people, all Linden clique affiliates. By the time the trials were over, most people were found innocent, including Fabian. This left Linden's gang affiliate population subdued, and leaving the now poor members of the Playbois the power to traffic in the area. However, with more people moving in due to the small population in Linden, the gang has received a newer generation of younger members, who prefer Linden Locos over Playbois. But whatever the name, the group is now slightly coming back up into power in Linden, and might just be a new drug powerhouse.
