WarDog Kell wants to kill you
September 15th, 2023 by James Knight
I sit on the couch as Markel, known to the internet as "WarDog Kell" wipes his forehead and drinks a CapriSun upside down after screaming completely unwarranted threats to someone's grandma into the mic of my studio. Having just taken 3 grams of Bloxrr, he puffs on a bubble blower, concerningly unaffected by the amount of substances in his body. Its Kell's third day out of prison after being bonded out for stabbing a man in the chest in front of a police officer. I'm genuinely fucking scared.
Over the last month, Kell has blown up at an astronomical rate on BikBok for rapping incomprehensibly evil threats at his enemies, like "tie a nigga up, have the pits rip his d*ck off" or "kidnap you and your grandma for fun". Teenage influencers with millions upon millions of followers are posting memes to his songs and singing along. When I ask him what he thinks about the recent coverage of his music through a BikBok meme I showed him, he replies "I'd fuck the shit out of her" to the meme made by a girl of questionable legality. I say nothing, because I value the well-being of my grandma/penis.
Kell belongs to a rap collective known as "CEMATARY", which refers to their insiders as "War Dogs". He resides in the Shaffer Village, a place dubbed by him and many locals as "CasperCity" in honor of a fallen gang member from the area. Kell tells me that he grew up with Casper and saw his body get wheeled out of his apartment when he was only 8. Aside from his CEMATARY affiliation, he tells us that his loyalty lies with CasperCity/KluxBusters, an extremist and radically leftist group of youths in the Shaffer Village.
After a few hours in the studio, the drugs are letting up on Kell's brain and he is starting to get more mellow. I manage to get a conversation out of him and I learn a lot more than I expected. Kell tells me that he is constantly bored and does "insane shit" for a thrill, consuming jaw-dropping amounts of drugs and driving at borderline suicidal speeds. When he isn't doing something recklessly dangerous, he tells me that he is unbearably tormented by his mind. "When shit gets quiet, that's when shit gets loud," he tells me. As I start to learn more about Kell, my idea of him shifts from the maniacally violent character I met 3 hours ago to a misunderstood kid, contrasting with his online image. While I'm still concerned about the fucking SHOTGUN resting against the wall, Kell no longer seems like the crazy, violent psychopath I previously perceived him as.
