Rough Beginnings
The Shaffer Homes community had once what was said was an age of the gold rush back from the early 70s to mid 80s. Recently this has been an area notorious for violent crime, drug abuse, and large numbers of prostitution since the 90s when the epidemic of Bloxrr had hit colored communities hitting this one of the most. This user to be a promising housing development since its creation in late 60s when mostly middle class and upper middle class families mainly ones of white backgrounds inhabited. The community flourished with business being in the area giving most families stable income. The area attracted many families to the area with lush green parks as well as many youth programs from academic to athletic. The future was clearly bright in the Shaffer area and was a place where many wanted to raise their children. This was all a great time till many of the businesses has relocated, went bankrupt or shut down due to no longer receiving government funding. This made many of the families who had inhabited the area for decades devastated but wherever the money went the people went with many of them moving to the newer neighborhoods primarily on the outskirts of the city, with even some being able to afford living downtown or simply leaving East Brickton for newer opportunities. Many of the people who used to live in the area talk about the times this was the place you wanted to live.

8Cide is widely regarded as a younger generation of the since then extinct crew that used to run the Shaffer Housing units from the 90s till the 2000s. The 2 Wixked Swans which was a blood set holding ties to the motherland being sanctioned by a blood set in 8Cide also known as ClickForSuave is a set of young reckless gang bangers who’ve been causing terror to the community since the mid 2000s. They’ve established themselves in the Shaffer Village. A low income section 8 housing project located in a high crime rate residential neighborhood in southern East Brickton. They can be seen selling drugs on the corner, drinking, playing dice and much more in part of “playing their block”. Many of the founding fathers of the set are either dead, incarcerated or simply avoiding the radar of law enforcement leaving them inactive within the set. Having newer generations come in each younger then the last. Members are occasionally seen doing many acts such as home invasions, breaking into vehicles, robberies, fraud, just about anything to make money. Many of the young members are young African American males, Hispanics or Caribbean men still in their teen years many still attending high school either being barely active in the class room or drop outs pursuing a life of crime. Even though the set started off as a stronghold for the 43 Gangster Crips many of them went onto flipping to the larger blood sets which were growing in power not only in the streets but on Rikers island or locals call it /The Rock/. The kids in the area all claim Sex Money Murder, Gorillla Stone Bloods as well as Gangster Killer Blood. There are a very few stand alone 43 Gangster Crips from the older generation of 8Cide. Many of the younger generation have created links within many of the youth within the city having even affiliates who never even grew up in Shaffer to begin with but are said to have built friendships with affiliates from the area from a young age or from being blood related.

The set lost a lot of its power after a lengthy indictment in 2013 which wrapped up many 8Cide affiliates. This slowed down the development of the set with many high ranks and figures being put behind bars. “Operation STV” was an indictment which Feds had investigated the set for over 7 years linking them to numerous robberies, assaults, shootings, attempted murders, fraud as well as homicides in the city. It was clear law enforcement was tired of the sets reckless antics terrorizing their community and near by ones. Over a 30 charges were laid out. Their revival wouldn’t begin till a new generation emerged with new faces of young kids hopping off the porch indulging in the very same crime which had gotten them locked up. Creating a snow ball effect which was an endless cycle in the community which was honestly sad. Many of the members who formed structure were since now gone and left a new generation of young pistol toting reckless kids to take their spots.
Terror In Shaffer
The death of 14 year old Shawn Macklemore also known as Suave to his friends and fellow affiliates was a pivotal step in the development of the set. On the summer night, on June 5th , 2019 year old Shawn was seen up on 53rd Ave and W 112th towards the Shaffer Housing Units. the street with his older brother Symere "SK Rollaxk" Macklemore when two masked gun men jumped out a black car firing numerous times at their direction with the intended target being his older brother SK which who got shot once in his shin but was able to run off. The same couldn’t be said for his younger brother Shawn “Suave” who was struck twice in his back and once in his neck and collapsed. 1 identified as Junior Bannerman “JJ Bklu” a rival from a Crip set. Upon being shot many locals were simply frightened at the fact they’ve just witnessed a homicide in front of their very eyes and were a state of shock. Some locals looked at him attempting to help him with aid, but many didn’t not knowing what to do. Upon paramedics being at the scene many people say they did a lazy job at helping the young teen but as well as saying there wasn’t any time left with a young Suave dying on scene. This created a huge number of young teens from the area as well as many other getting more involved with the street life doing anything in his name from shootings, assaults etc. The term “ClickForSuave” or “SuaveIDoItForYou” grew amongst the area. With many murals as well as candle lights being held for him. Suave's name would be held in high regards around the area, many locals would not take any disrespect of Suave kindly.
