Elijah Rose, born May 15th, 2021, is an African-American male born in Springfield, Illinois. As a kid, living in a household with only his father and his older sister, Daysia, was easy for him. His father was always watching the news while his sister was rarely not out with her friends. He never found interest in much, always turning down or denying hanging with friends at school. Instead, he'd rather sit and listen to stories about his mother that his father always told him about. Either that or ride around the neighborhood on his bike.
Rose grew and matured, began to build ideas and thoughts on the world through his own life experiences. He stayed to himself most of the time. When he turned 13 his father handed him his Passport and mentioned that Elijah had other family to see, and just him and his sister weren't the only family he had. The Rose household went on multiple trips throughout two years to visit their vast and diverse family members, during the trips Elijah grew very fond of his sister, Daysia. He also grew fond of music. These trips lasted until Elijah was 15 years old.
On the night following the Rose family's trip back from Las Vegas to go see Elijah's aunt, his father was watching the news as usual. This was another normal night, Daysia went out with her friends, and Elijah had just recently gotten home from exploring on his bike outside. His father was rather emotional this night, it was getting late and Daysia still hadn't come home yet but he managed to calm himself down. Elijah was in his bed listening to the news his father was watching downstairs when he heard news reporters, headlines upon headlines, stating that Daysia was killed in a shooting at the mall her and her friends were at. Elijah's heart dropped into the abyss. Was he dreaming? Was this real? He didn't hear his father react, was he sleeping?
The following morning Elijah woke up to the sound of his father on the phone with the likes of Springfield local police asking for his daughter, mustering up the courage after a few minutes of crying over his sister's death, Elijah ran downstairs and told his father the news. After showing him the news headline from last night, they could do nothing but sit in despair after the death of their beloved family member.
The death of Daysia Rose holds strongly in Elijah's heart, and whatever he does, he does for Daysia. Elijah has a rather optimistic attitude, he thinks of his father and his sister as a way to guide and motivate himself. And now at 19, he carries a heavy heart and a heavy Block 17.
