Massive Drug Seizure at the East Brickton Docks
Jerry Wills, 2/4/39
Around 3:00AM last night, the East Brickton Police Department along with the ICE raided storage containers in the East Brickton Docks suspected of containing illegal immigrants. They ended up finding around 30 boxes of bloxrr in two containers, along with several illegal immigrants from Mexico and a couple US citizens. Two US citizens named Jorge and Rodrigo Ortiz were arrested. They are currently being held at the East Brickton police station awaiting trial. There is little information on the illegal immigrants who were with the two. This isn't the first time these two had made the news before. Jorge Ortiz has had a warrant for over three years for assault and grievous bodily harm. Rodrigo Ortiz was arrested because he was a suspect in a shootout which left two dead, and four injured, including a pregnant woman who was caught in the crossfire. The duo hasn't reached the court of law until now.
The ship in which these containers arrived originally began it's journey in the port of Merida, Mexico. Captain George R. Wellington of the boat remarked to the press, "This sh*t happens all the time, why do you all care so much?" The company responsible for transporting the containers was capitol truck lines, and the CEO, Brandon Peterson had to say in a press conference this morning, "We aren't responsible for the cartels attempting to get on our ships in Mexico, we aren't detectives we're a transportation company." The dock company, Ramos & Bros, has been under trial before for fraud cases. The owner of the docks, Jorge Ramos, held a press conference just a few hours after, in which he remarked, "I am in no way tied to these organizations, and with the cooperation of the EBPD I will make the docks here a safer work environment." Ramos himself was arrested after this speech for investigation to the crime. Crime has plagued East Brickton, and is now reaching local business. Criminal rates have been rising since the Gonzalez refugee camp two miles outside the city limits has been bringing in refugees from Mexico due to the current insurgency.

Insurgency In Mexico escalates to a Revolt
Jorge Flores, January 8, 2039
For the past three years, an insurgency on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico has turned into a revolution. The largest insurgent group in this war call themselves "Los Libertadores" and they are led by insurgent general Rodolfo Jimenez. Jimenez first announced this morning a new declaration of independence and constitution, declaring the Yucatan Peninsula as independent and Merida as it's capital. He then denounced the current government of Mexico, demanding they put an end to the cartels, join BRICS, and end corruption as a whole and write a new constitution, a truly historical event. Jimenez has actually made himself an enemy of the cartels, two assassination attempts were carried out against him in the past two years. President Juarez of Mexico denounced the revolutionary, calling him an extremist and a fascist. The second largest insurgent group In Yucatan, Verdaderos Mexicanos, is led by insurgent Pedro Guadalupe. They are a radial extremist group who's committed genocide against the lighter skinned people in their controlled area, deeming them "invaders of Mexico." US President Perez has denounced the group, and has ordered over 10,000 marines to be sent into Mexico as a counter insurgency force. US casualties in this conflict so far are 1,192 Marines as reported in a speech by the president. Rodolfo Jimenez has become a menace to the United States and the west.
Since the war began, it has claimed over 150,000 lives and has devastated the Yucatan peninsula. Devastation in Campeche has reached an all time high, after a US sponsored air raid on the city which successfully took out Pro-Jimenez forces last week. After the a battle at Tulum, US forces recovered Chinese and Russian made weapons. President Yi Cheun of China did not deny involvement in the insurgency, and actually sat down for a meeting in Merida with Jimenez on public television. President Rurikovich of the Russian Federation denied any involvement in the insurgency. President Perez sat down with both Jimenez and Juarez for a peace conference just yesterday. Jimenez openly called the leaders, "Puppets" and "Criminals." This devolved into a bitter debate about the cartel situation in Mexico. There has been a massive war amongst the cartels during all this, as they are setting up taxing checkpoints, basically starting insurgencies of their own. In the North of Mexico, the cartels have been responsible for over 1,000 deaths in the past four years.
Refugee facilities have opened up along the eastern coast of the US. The largest of these facilities, Bloxton Refugee Facility, is right outside of the small town of East Brickton. However, it's not always a good idea to voluntarily allow illegal immigrants into your country, and several riots and escapes have been made across these facilities, including in Bloxton Refugee Facility. A riot within the refugee facility led to the escape of hundreds of illegal immigrants. The director of ICE, Gerald Washington, declared the refugee crisis to be an "abomination." Several protests across the country have gone against the government's handling of the refugees, instead of giving them a place for the remainder of the war, they're keeping them locked in facilities like prisons. President Juarez of Mexico commented on the situation in a recent speech, "I will end this war soon so all the refugees in the states can come back home." This just might be foreshadowing a surrender, which would give Jimenez power.
