My own children are scared to go outside because all they hear is fucking gunshots. Broadway used to be a nice place before these fucking hoodlums came and fucked everything up. It ain't fair that my kids have to live in fear. It's grown folks teaching kids to kill other kids, all over a fucking zip code. All this gang shit doing for the black community is proving the stereotypes right."
History
As gang activity began forming inside the Broadway area, it's reputation slowly degraded from a nice and relatively cheap place to live to a hotspot for gangbangers and drug dealers. The main reason for this was a group of teenagers who called themselves the Broadway Boys. The Broadway Boys started to show prevalence in the late 90s, when a group of teenagers in poverty started a clique to commit crimes together in order to bring in money. At first, the Broadway Boys were a relatively docile group of petty criminals, until other local cliques began to take notice of their income and wanted them taken off the map. Eventually, the Broadway Boys got tired of being robbed and shot at, so they began to fight back. War broke out in the streets and bodies started dropping left and right between cliques all over East Brickton. Now, Broadway sees crimes, shootings, and murders almost every day.
Today
With most of the founding fathers and OGs of the Broadway Boys dead or in jail, the Broadway Boys now consist of mostly teenagers and children. They are violent and reckless, with nothing to lose and everything to gain. The Broadway Boys also got the name 913 Broadway Boys in honor of a teenager from the Broadway Boys nicknamed "913" who was shot to death in a retaliation drive-by. The Broadway Boys frequently commit robberies and ransoms in order to get money. They are at war with almost every gang in East Brickton and frequently commit murders in order to raise the score in their favor.
Broadway is now one of the murder capitals in East Brickton, only second place to Genesee. Civilians and residents of Broadway are scared to walk outside at night due to the violence that plagues their community.
"Everyday I wake up in fear that one of my children could be the next victim, the next news report, the next hashtag on social media.. If we had the money, I would have moved us all out of this god-forsaken place years ago. A few months ago, my son was shot in his hip while walking home from school. We will never recover from the trauma that we see on a daily basis. I see a dead body almost every other week. I hear gunshots every hour. I'm sick of this shit."
